Founded in 2002, ArtMade Architects is a boutique architecture studio in Surry Hills, Sydney. Our team of highly experienced architects and projects managers are passionate about creating captivating designs and exceptional results for our clients.

Sherif Saad

DIRECTOR

With more than 25 years of industry experience, the majority as director and mentor to the ArtMade team, Sherif’s mission is to provide a high-quality customer experience.

Sherif has specialised expertise acting as an expert witness in the Land & Environment Court of NSW. Sherif has represented clients in over 40 court cases and has a successful track record to date.

  • Since the formation of ArtMade in 2000, Sherif and his dedicated team have been delivering quality small to medium scale residential, commercial and interior design projects.

    Sherif has experience in a diverse scope of architecture however, his main expertise lies within commercial developments, with particular expertise in childcare design. Under the direction of Sherif, the Studio has contributed to the design and development of over 200 childcare centres.

    Memberships: NSW Registered Architect no. 7867, A+ Member of the Australian Institute of Architects 45170, Member of the Association of Consulting Architects 2265

Brett Buckley

STUDIO MANAGER

Brett is a proven and accomplished professional with over 25 years of experience within the architecture, hospitality, healthcare & design industries. With an eye for detail and the ability to appreciate quality design, he has a core understanding of managing business operations and project lifecycles across a variety of industries.

  • Brett has an intimate knowledge of ArtMade’ s business strategies, plans and visions and is experienced in stakeholder relationship building, managing and mobilising resources as well as co ordinating all aspects of service delivery. He is responsible for business development, marketing, finance and supporting the team in the day-to-day operations of the studio.

 

Alok Sabne

ASSOCIATE

Alok has over 10 years of local experience designing and managing projects from concept through to the construction stage. He has played an integral part in various design schemes across residential, aged care, senior living, childcare centres and commercial projects. 

  • Alok is committed to providing clients with a detailed and creative response specific to their individual site and brief. Alok thrives on projects with high levels of complexity and constraints, driving, exploring and nurturing each project to its maximum potential. Alok has an outstanding eye for design and is responsible for mentoring the team ensuring high-quality cutting-edge designs are delivered to ArtMade’s clients on time and within budget.

Brenton Romeo

SENIOR PROJECT LEADER

Brenton completed his Masters in Architecture at Sydney University in 2014. His academic studies included an exchange semester studying contemporary architecture at Lund University in Sweden where he gained exposure to European-style design-based workshops.

  • Brenton has broad-ranging design experience across a variety of projects, with particular expertise in the design of childcare centres. He has worked across all project phases, from project inception, design and feasibility right through to construction. He is skilled in Revit and enjoys designing innovative solutions that use space in clever ways

Mina Saad

SENIOR PROJECT LEADER

Mina obtained his Bachelor of Design in Architecture at Egypt’s El-Minia University in 2006 and has 13 years’ experience working in architecture overseas and in Australia.

  • His first role was Graduate Architect under the supervision of one of the Middle East’s iconic architects, Rami El Dahan. It was here that Mina gained invaluable experience designing and building projects in local vernacular architecture and vault and dome construction techniques. El Dahan is renowned for sustainability and its use of locally available construction materials, which provided valuable knowledge that Mina still uses in his designs today.

    In 2013, Mina relocated to Australia to join his brother Sherif’s architecture studio. He now works across all project phases, from concept design through to construction administration. Mina is skilled in REVIT and is the most fastidious member of the team; focused, diligent and obsessed with the Building Code of Australia (BCA).

    Mina is passionate about design; the process where lines on paper translate into built form.

Stephanie Hong

PROJECT LEADER

Steph studied at UTS and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree before continuing on to complete her Master’s in 2016. Prior to joining ArtMade, Steph was working on large scale commercial developments in Papua New Guinea. 

  • Steph gained invaluable experience and insight into the challenges facing architects working on projects in third world countries. Steph loves to expand her knowledge, always observing and fascinated by how things are done.

    Steph is our resident expert in rendering presentations, video walkthroughs and still renderings. Her style is less is more, understanding that achieving minimalism is the art of making something appear effortless without compromising on functionality.

Kelly Zhang

DESIGNER

Kelly graduated with a Bachelor of Design in Architecture and was one of the earliest team members of the ArtMade family. Her experience spans over residential and commercial architecture with specialised expertise in early childhood centre design.

  • Kelly’s strength and skill lie within both exterior and interior design, artfully translating client briefs into innovative design solutions and not only maximising the use of space but transforming it into something truly special.

    Kelly is the team’s quiet achiever and a lover of fine tea. She is currently on maternity leave and hopes to return to the studio in 2020.

Ken Lim

DESIGNER

Ken graduated from UNSW with a Masters in Architecture with a focus in high performance technology. His previous experience includes the design and rendering of commercial landscape architecture projects spanning across twelve countries.

  • This international and holistic design perspective, coupled with his exposure to nature-inspired works has only furthered his keen interest in sustainability. He now seeks to incorporate these principles into each design to benefit both the client as well as the world beyond.

 

Mrunmayi Sangamnerkar

DESIGNER

Mrunmayi completed her masters in 2018 from the university of Sydney with a major in sustainable design and high-performance facades. Her journey to design started when she learnt that she could combine creativity with sensitivity for the environment, she was fascinated by the older Indian building and how they responded to the climate.

  • Mrunmayi is invested in finding solutions to design problems and likes to give an environmental benefit to her designs.

    Travelling, hiking, and meeting new people are some of her passions.

    Qualifications: Master’s in Architectural sciences (Sustainable Design) (High performance Facades)

Kiara Gebrael

DESIGNER

Kiara is currently completing her Masters of Architecture at the University of Sydney, and completed her Bachelor’s degree at UTS in 2020.

Kiara is passionate about engaging with the community and has worked on co-design projects while at university.

  • She also has a passion for sustainable and socially responsible architecture. She is always striving to learn new things and expand her knowledge within the discipline.

    Qualifications: B. Architecture

 

Joseph Saad

JUNIOR OFFICE ASSISTANT

Joseph graduated from high school in 2019 with an amazing 95.5 ATAR and is currently studying Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) / Bachelor of Computer Science at UNSW Sydney.

 
  • Joseph was eager to take on a part-time role at ArtMade so he could learn and grow in a professional environment. Joseph supports the ArtMade team with the day to day running of the practice.
