South Coogee Duplex

ArtMade was approached by residential developers to design a dual occupancy.

The proportions of the site are long and narrow with a fall of 2.5m -3m from the street to the rear, which was challenging. However, despite being a challenging site, ArtMade saw this as an opportunity to design an interesting development. With a width constraint, the main circulation and access was position in the middle of each dwelling to maximize floor area for habitable spaces.

Through the use of courtyards & terraces it imbued a sense of serenity and calmness as the lush landscaping is visible from every room.

To further enhance the feeling of luxuriousness ArtMade has proposed a void over the living space which looks out to the rear yard giving the illusion of voluminous environment.  The material palette is simple and neutral bagged brick as the main material with featured timber elements.

The proposal is currently under assessment with Council.
